Fangirl Friday; Dress like Harley

The highly anticipated Suicide Squad film is only a couple of weeks away, and advance ticket sales have already begun. With your hands on a shiny new ticket for the film, now all you have to do is put together a theatre-appropriate ensemble to sport your favourite villainous superhero (oxymoron anyone?).

I had the pleasure of working on a duplicate costume for the film's version of Harley Quinn for Halloween last year, so I'll share a few tips on how to make a cute premiere outfit yourself!

What you'll need: fitted white long sleeve, red spray paint, "Daddy's Lil Monster" iron on, scissors, and masking tape.

Shirt Steps:
  • Cut the sleeves of the white shirt to right about at the elbow, or just above
  • Tape around the areas where you will be spray painting the red (so the colour won't bleed)
  • Do 1-2 coats of spray paint and hang to dry (preferably outside in the sun or in a garage)
  • Remove the tape once dry, and throw shirt in the washing machine by itself (do not put in the dryer, hang to dry)
  • Print out the "Daddy's Lil Monster" onto white iron-on paper, and iron onto the chest of the shirt
  • Cut the collar of the shirt off, as well as make small ragged slits all over the torso of the shirt
  • Viola! You're shirt is complete!

What you'll need: cream belt, smooth cardboard, gold craft paint, hot glue/gun, scissors, velcro strips.

Collar Steps:
  • Cut the belt to the size of your neck (not too tight)
  • Cut out "Puddin" letters from the cardboard
  • Make a small border around the letters with hot glue to get rid of sharp edges
  • Paint the letters gold
  • Once dry, attach the letters to where the front of the collar will be, and attach velcro strips to each end of the collar

All of these items can be found at Walmart/a dollar store. Add a couple of pigtails in your hair and some crazy makeup for a little added flair.
